Classic Baguette Sandwich

Ingredients
  

Sandwich Base

  • 1 French baguette freshly baked

Filling

  • 4 oz deli ham or roast beef or any preferred protein
  • 3 oz brie cheese sliced (or cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella)
  • 1 ripe tomato sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber thinly sliced
  • 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
  • 4 leaves butter lettuce

Condiments & Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or herbed aioli
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Slice the baguette in half lengthwise. Drizzle each side with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
  • Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or herbed aioli on one half of the baguette. On the other half, spread Dijon mustard.
  • Layer the lettuce, tomato slices, cucumber, and red onion on the bottom half of the baguette.
  • Add the deli ham or roast beef, followed by slices of brie cheese. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Close the sandwich and press gently to hold everything together.
  • Slice into halves or quarters and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

For an extra crunch, lightly toast the baguette before assembling. Let the sandwich rest for a few minutes after assembling to allow the flavors to meld.
